New Mock Draft From Daniel Jeremiah Has Keion White Landing In Dallas
NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah released his new mock draft yesterday and it is always an interesting discussion when Jeremiah releases a new mock draft. He is one of the best NFL Draft analysts in the business and it is always notable with each mock he releases.
Georgia Tech defensive end Keion White has been one of the fastest-rising players in this year's pre-draft process and in the latest mock draft, Jeremiah has White landing with one of the best defenses in the NFL and that is with the Dallas Cowboys.
Here is what Jeremiah had to say about White being picked by the Cowboys:
"White has inside/outside versatility, and I think he’ll be one of the stars of next week's combine."
I think this would be a great landing spot for White. One of the things that analysts and scouts seem to love about White is his versatility and ability to play anywhere. Dallas has one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL (Dan Quinn) and he knows how to use versatile pieces on defense. Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons is one of the most versatile players in the league (I am NOT comparing the two players) and Quinn uses Parsons exceptionally well and maximizes his potential. If White were to be drafted by Quinn and the Cowboys, White will be a player to watch for as the defensive rookie of the year.
Senior Bowl director and former NFL scout Jim Nagy hopped on the Gramlch and Mac Lain podcast yesterday and when asked about what kind of scheme would fit White's skill set best, the Cowboys did come up:
"I think going to a staff that is really open-minded and creative with him and uses him because his versatility is pretty unique. There are some guys that are tweeners and can play different fronts and play different alignments and certain fronts but I would let this guy float and stand up in the A gap, he can get pressure from any alignment, he can play in an even front or an odd front, but again, whatever front he is in, I just, just let him use what he's got and I think the best coordinators will do that and I am not saying he is (Cowboys linebacker) Micah Parsons at all, I am not making that comparison, but the way that (Cowboys defensive coordinator) Dan Quinn uses Parsons and turns him loose, I hope he ends up with a team that does that with him."
White is going to have a chance to really cement his status as one of the top pass rushers at the NFL Combine next week and if he has a great performance, he might not even be around when the Cowboys are on the clock.
The 2023 NFL Draft begins Thursday, April 27th.
