Georgia Tech WBB Defeats Wake Forest 63-55

Georgia Tech moves to 13-13 with the win over ACC foe Wake Forest

Georgia Tech WBB is back in the win column after a recent three-game losing streak.

The Yellow Jackets (13-13, 4-11) played a fantastic game on the defensive end and were able to hold the Demon Deacons offense and limit them all game.

While Georgia Tech might have finished the game strong, they did not start out of the gates that way.

Tech trailed 23-15 after the first quarter and it was not looking great. Wake Forest was red hot from the field during the first quarter and shot 60% and it looked like the Demon Deacons were going to use their offense to run past Georgia Tech.

Then the defense completely shut down the Wake Forest attack.

During the 2nd and 3rd quarters, Georgia Tech was able to hold Wake Forest to seven and eight points.

Offensively, freshman Kara Dunn led the Jackets with a career-high 21 points. She made 8-of-12 field goals and 4-of-5 free throws to top her previous career-best of 20 points, set in Tech's last outing against Pitt. Fellow freshman Tonie Morgan added 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, to go along with six assists.

Sophomore Kayla Blackshear pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and fifth-year senior Bianca Jackson led all players with seven assists for Tech, which has won four of its last five home games.

Georgia Tech will be back on the floor on Sunday in Tallahassee against Florida State. The game will tip-off at 2:00 p.m.
