Georgia Tech Baseball Is A Projected No.2 Seed In D1Baseball's Initial Field of 64

Will Georgia Tech remain in the Tournament field after losing so much talent?

Georgia Tech Baseball is back this Friday and that also means the road to the NCAA Tournament is going to be starting as well. Georgia Tech lost in the Knoxville Regional last season to the top team in the field of 64 (Tennessee) and is hoping that they can advance further than they did in 2022.

D1 Baseball released their field of 64 projections yesterday and they have the Yellow Jackets heading to Greenville as a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The other teams that are in that projected regional are the host team East Carolina, Liberty, and College of Charleston. Georgia Tech would be facing Liberty in this bracket.

The Yellow Jackets are going to have to replace several star players from last year's team that got drafted into the MLB Draft. Kevin Parada, Tres Gonzalez, Zach Maxwell, Marquis Grissom Jr, and Tim Borden are all gone, just to name a few. Nine players total were selected in the draft and that is a lot of talent for any program to try and replace.

Despite the talent leaving, there is still plenty in Atlanta to win this season. Stephen Reid, Jackson Finley, Jake DeLeo, Jack Rubenstein, Drew Compton, Cody Carwile, Logan McGuire, Aeden Finateri, and Jadyn Jackson are some of the players that are back. If those experienced players take a leap and the young talent can provide a spark, this team is going to surprise people.

There were a total of ten ACC teams in the projected field of 64. Virginia Tech, Florida State, Miami, Wake Forest, Virginia, Louisville, Notre Dame, North Carolina, and NC State were the other ACC teams in the projected Tournament Bracket with Georgia Tech.

As far as the preseason rankings go, Georgia Tech is not in the preseason top 25 at D1Baseball. In total, there were seven ACC teams that made the cut for the top 25, led by No. 6 Wake Forest. No. 12 North Carolina, No. 14 Virginia Tech, No. 16 Louisville, No. 19 Virginia, No. 21 NC State, and No. 22 Miami joined the Demon Deacons in the rankings.

The Yellow Jackets open their season against Miami (OH) this weekend in Atlanta and the first game will be on Friday. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
