Georgia Tech WBB Loses On The Road To Miami 64-58

Georgia Tech WBB saw their short winning streak come to an end against Miami

Georgia Tech WBB was coming off a win against No. 15 NC State and was hoping to continue playing well on the road against a solid Miami team. The Yellow Jackets played well, but it was not enough against the Hurricanes on Sunday afternoon.

The game opened up with the teams trading baskets back and forth, but Miami did seize control in the first quarter and led 19-13 after the opening period. It was a balanced quarter in terms of scoring, with Kayla Blackshear, Aixa Wone Aranaz, Tonie Morgan, and Nerea Hermosa all scoring baskets.

Miami led 19-13 after the first quarter, but the Yellow Jackets would make their run in the second quarter to make it a tight game at the half. Cam Swartz and Kara Dunn were able to get on the board and were able to cut the Miami lead to one at halftime.

Dunn made a three to take a 32-30 lead for the Yellow Jackets, but that lead did not last long as Miami would fight back and take control of the game. After Georgia Tech cut the Miami lead from five and tied it back up, Hermosa would make a free throw to get the Yellow Jackets back on top.

Miami would go on an 8-3 run to end the third quarter.

Unfortunately for the Yellow Jackets, they would not get a lead back for the rest of the game and Miami came out on top.

The biggest reason for the loss came down to rebounding. Miami outrebounded Georgia Tech 51-25 and that led to more chances for Miami to score. Georgia Tech outshot the Hurricanes 37.3% to 36.4 and outshot them from three-point range 37.5% to 21.4%.

Georgia Tech is now 12-11 and will be back on the court at Clemson on Thursday and the game will tip off at 8:00
