Updated ACC Basketball Standings Heading Into Weekend
There is a new team at the bottom of the ACC standings.
After losing to Louisville on Wednesday night, Josh Pastner's Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets program is now in last place in the ACC. Two years removed from winning the ACC Tournament, Pastner's tenure has taken a sharp turn downward and Georgia Tech is going to be an underdog in every remaining ACC game.
At the top of the standings, Clemson (10-2) remains alone in first place, but the Tigers took a loss this week to Boston College. Clemson has a big game against Miami this weekend and their grip on the top of the league standings will be on the line.
Virginia (9-2) has been the hottest team in the conference, winning seven straight and now sitting in second place in the ACC, only half a game behind Clemson. The Cavaliers travel to Virginia Tech this weekend.
Pittsburgh (9-3) is next in the standings and the Panthers are continuing to make their case to be in the NCAA Tournament. Pitt got a good win against North Carolina this week and they are off on Saturday.
NC State and Miami are both 8-4 and both teams are coming off of wins. NC State hosts Georgia Tech this weekend and it is likely the Wolfpack are going to earn their fourth straight win this weekend.
Duke and North Carolina are not only playing each other this weekend, but they are both 7-4 and need a win. This is the best rivalry in the country still and it will be a great game to watch on Saturday.
Wake Forest and Syracuse are next in line at 6-6 and both teams are favored to win their respective games this weekend. Wake Forest travels to Notre Dame and Syracuse has a road game against Boston College.
Speaking of Boston College, the Eagles are tied with Florida State at 5-7. Boston College scored a big upset this week against Clemson, but Florida State has lost three in a row. The Seminoles should pick up a win against Louisville this weekend.
The bottom four are Virginia Tech (3-8), Notre Dame (2-9), Louisville (1-10), and Georgia Tech (1-11).
