Five-Star Defensive End Elijah Rushing Visiting Georgia Tech Today

The No.1 edge player in the country is taking an unofficial to Tech today

A big-time 2024 visitor has made his way to Atlanta today.

Elijah Rushing (Tucson, AZ) is the No. 1 ranked defensive end in the country according to 247Sports and he is taking a visit to The Flats today.

Rushing was offered by Georgia Tech shortly after Marco Coleman was brought back by Brent Key to be the defensive line coach for the Yellow Jackets. This visit is a positive trend for Georgia Tech, but of course it is just one step in the recruiting process and it will be interesting to see if Georgia Tech can build any momentum here.

The defensive line recruiting has seen some big names pop up, including five-star defensive lineman David Stone and top 100 player Jeremiah Beaman, who was also on a visit to Georgia Tech recently. Both Coleman and Key are taking big swings at defensive linemen and that is something to keep an eye on as the spring and summer roll on.

Rushing was recently on an unofficial to Miami and has two official visits scheduled in June, one to Tennessee and one to Notre Dame.

Here is the scouting report on Rushing from 247's Blair Angulo:

"Long, high-upside frame with plus-plus wingspan. Tall in stature with major physical potential to add mass. Explosive edge rusher with impressive mobility. Flashes elite pass-rush ability with an array of moves. Shows great flexibility to bend and maneuver past blocks. Displays terrific hand usage to disengage while maintaining forward momentum. Attacks gaps with purpose and shows ability to counter. Could continue to add strength and improve in run support. Potential multi-year starter at elite Power Five level and projects as a Day 1 NFL Draft selection."

The 2024 class for Georgia Tech is headlined by four-star quarterback Jakhari Williams (Macon, GA). Williams has been the building block for Key in this class and is going to be the quarterback of the future for the Yellow Jackets.

  • Duke Watson (RB)
  • Santana Alo-Tupuola (IOL)
