Brent Key provides injury update on Chase Lane and Jordan Williams
Georgia Tech has been without wide receiver Chase Lane since the victory over South Carolina State and without offensive lineman Jordan Williams since he went down against Wake Forest. With Georgia Tech on their bye week, both players have a chance to get healthy before the Yellow Jackets start the second half of the season against Boston College next Saturday.
Yellow Jackets head coach Brent Key spoke with the media on Tuesday for the first time since the stunning victory over Miami and when asked about the status of both Lane and Williams, here is what Key had to say:
"I think so. Jordan was running around out there today, he did not do the contact today, he stood there with me in the back and I said, dang Jordan, you did not go on the trip this week, what does that mean? He laughed and said that that means I am on every one from now on. Chase was out there moving around and it is to the point now with both of those guys that it is about pain tolerance with them, we are not going to put those guys in any jeopardy to play before they can, but I am hoping to have both of those guys back next week and that would be a tremendous addition to have both of those guys back."
Lane has caught six passes for 105 yards and one touchdown and he is averaging 17.5 yards per catch. Jakiah Leftwich has stepped in for Williams at right tackle and has not done a bad job.
Georgia Tech returns to the field next Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium against Boston College (12:00 p.m. ACC network).
