Former Georgia Tech linebacker Ace Eley released by the Carolina Panthers
Ace Eley led Georgia Tech in tackles during the 2022 season and hoped to make the Carolina Panther's 53-man roster, but Eley was unfortunately let go by the Carolina Panthers today. Today was the final day of NFL roster cuts as every franchise is getting down to 53 players.
Eley put together his best season during the 2022 campaign. Eley led the team with 118 tackles, was tied for second on the team with 3.5 sacks, had three pass deflections, and led the team with four forced fumbles. In a year with so much changing around Georgia Tech, Eley was a constant on Saturdays in terms of tackling and play-making.
Eley had his best season in 2022 according to PFF as well. He had a career-best 63.3 grade on defense, 64.0 run defense, 57.5 tackling, 65.1 pass rush, and 57.1 coverage.
Eley went on to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl alongside teammate Malachi Carter and he had a good performance. He had one of the highlights of the game with a scoop and score and he was a consistent performer in practice as well.
Hopefully, Eley can catch on somewhere and be a practice squad addition. He has talent and could blossom into a solid NFL contributor if given the opportunity.
