It was a huge day for Georgia Tech as the Yellow Jackets held a scrimmage today as fall camp is starting to wind down.

Head coach Brent Key spoke to the media after the scrimmage and while not naming any names, he did address the quarterback battle and talked about the position and how they fared today:

"All of them got reps today, we rolled with three guys in the first two groups. A good thing about today is that every person on the team played. Every player on the football team played. It is family day, we have a family barbecue afterwards and we were able to get every player out there.

We will sit down tomorrow and I think and it is fluid but we will start establishing who is what in different spots tomorrow, 85 to 90% to that point of who has to help us play. Now it might be a two-deep but we might not know who is the one and the two in some spots.

With the quarterback position, days like today, for myself, it is not much to see who goes out and plays great. It is who handles adversity. It is who handles adversity when you are in a two-minute drill, who handles when it is 2nd and 16, who is going to be able to shake that play off and move to the next one. That is what we have to continue to do with these guys and see who can handle the adversity and shake the play off and move to the next play and when he goes to the sideline, the players still rally around him.

I say it all the time, the No. 1 trait that we are looking for in a quarterback is toughness. That is not who is going to get in a street fight, that is who has the mental toughness and to forget about the last play. You can have a bad play but you can't let things spiral out of control."

What Key said today is not much different than what he said about the quarterback battle after the first day of camp. While the time is coming to name a starter, it is not going to happen yet:

"With the quarterback situation, we have a great battle between three guys that have college experience, college game experience, big-time game experience. We are as fortunate as any team in the country in terms of the depth we have at that position and right now it is a lot of installation and a lot of routes on air, those kinds of things, getting timing down.

Like I have said before, it is different when you have the helmets on and the cleats as opposed in the summer and doing 7-on-7's. Every day is an evaluation of those guys, how they do in team periods, how they do off the field, how they transition from one play to the other. We have a good thing to have right now and that is experience and that is probably the same answer that I am going to give for the next three weeks. Don't plan on an announcement coming anytime soon"

Key spoke about toughness being the top trait the staff is looking for and offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner emphasized that earlier in camp:

"First of all, he has to be the toughest guy in the building. In this day and age with the media and everything else, you have a lot to handle. Tough, a great leader... the beautiful thing about Coach (Chris) Weinke and I, we see it the same way. We did not know each other seven months ago and then we talked about quarterbacks and it was spot on, so we are aligned as far as that goes.

As far as the race, we are going to have all three guys getting reps, all three are getting an opportunity to play and whoever come out on top, you guys will know when we know or maybe even the first play of the game, but we are in no hurry to announce it, that is for sure."

There are only 20 days until toe meets leather and Georgia Tech faces Louisville in Mercedes Benz Stadium and it sounds like things are starting to narrow down in the quarterback battle, but no starter has been named.
