Georgia Tech vs. Miami gets primetime kickoff slot
For the fourth time this season, Georgia Tech is going to be playing in primetime.
The ACC announced game times for the weekend of October 7th and the Yellow Jackets will face the No. 18 Miami Hurricanes at 8:00 p.m. on the ACC Network.
Georgia Tech is likely to be 3-2 heading into this game, provided they take care of business against Bowling Green this weekend. Miami is currently 4-0 and ranked No. 18 in the latest AP Poll and the Hurricanes are off this weekend and will still be undefeated going into this game.
The Yellow Jackets are coming off of a big road win against Wake Forest in which the defense stepped up and played their best game of the season. They held Wake Forest to 16 points and forced five turnovers as well as getting eight sacks.
This will be a nice measuring stick game for Brent Key's team and I think Miami is the best team that Georgia Tech will have played up to this point. Miami head coach Mario Cristobal seems to have his team heading in the right direction after last year's 5-7 season and Miami already has a big win over Texas A&M and quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is playing like one of the best quarterbacks in the country.
Last season, Miami defeated Georgia Tech in Atlanta 35-14. It was a close game up until Zach Pyron was injured and then Miami's defense forced turnovers and took the game over. In the overall series, Miami leads 14-13 and the Hurricanes hold an 11-7 advantage over Georgia Tech since joining the ACC in 2004. Miami has won five of the last seven matchups against Georgia Tech and six of the last seven meetings in Miami.
