Mario Cristobal on ending vs Georgia Tech: "We Should've Taken a Knee"
Georgia Tech just pulled off one of the most unbelievable finishes in college football history.
Miami had the ball and appeared to have the game wrapped up and was going to run the clock out against Georgia Tech. Instead of taking a knee, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal decided to run the ball and Miami fumbled it away and Georgia Tech took over with 26 seconds left.
What happened next will be forever remembered in Georgia Tech's history. Quarterback Haynes King found Malik Rutherford for a big gain and then Christian Leary caught the game-winning 44-yard touchdown. It was a crazy finish and social media was full of reactions to the unbelievable game.
After the game, Cristobal was asked why he did not knee the ball down, and here is what he had to say:
This is not the first time this kind of loss has happened with Mario Cristobal as the head coach. A similar type of ending happened when he was the head coach of Oregon.
Georgia Tech is the beneficiary of another Mario Cristobal coaching decision blunder and the Yellow Jackets scored one of the most unbelievable finishes in the history of the sport because of it.
