BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Boogie Fland is a five-star, top-10 basketball prospect in the class of 2024.

Kentucky and coach John Calipari have long been considered the favorites to land the talented guard from Archbishop Stepinac. But according to Rivals' Rob Cassidy, Mike Woodson and the Indiana Hoosiers have emerged as a serious contender to land the services of Fland.

"Multiple people in the know have referred to Indiana as the sleeper in Fland’s recruitment for some time now, but the Hoosiers have gone from 'sleeper' to 'serious player' in the last few weeks," Cassidy wrote in his Tuesday story for Rivals

"Fland visited Bloomington in the summer and has been a priority for the Hoosiers ever since," Cassidy wrote. "Head coach Mike Woodson has made multiple trips to New York to see the five-star guard. He even spoke at a coaching clinic at Fland’s high school. Woodson and company like their chances here, even if UK and Alabama might be tough to topple."

As Cassidy mentioned there at the end, coach Nate Oats and the Alabama Crimson Tide are also still in serious contention for Fland.

While most of the recent wave of Indiana men's basketball recruiting talk has rightfully focused on Liam McNeeley, Fland would be another huge get for the Hoosiers. The five-star guard averaged 14.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game during 23 games for the PSA Cardinals during 22 games of 2023 Nike EYBL play this offseason, according to a source with EYBL tracking data.

"Expect Fland to go into decision mode in early October," Cassidy wrote. "With an announcement coming before Halloween."

Woodson and the Hoosiers do not yet have a commitment in the class of 2024, though they are the heavily projected favorites to land McNeeley.

UPDATE: According to high school and college basketball recruiting insider Andrew Slater, coach Woodson and the Indiana Hoosiers will be visiting Fland tomorrow, most likely at a practice for his high school team, Archbishop Stepinac.
