BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Coach Mike Woodson and the entire Indiana men's basketball staff will be at Archbishop Stepinac High School in New York on Wednesday. There, they will be meeting with Boogie Fland, a five-star guard in the class of 2024.

The news was first reported by college basketball insider Andrew Slater.

This is a major development after many assumed for weeks that coach John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats were head and shoulders above the rest in the recruitment of Fland.

That changed in late September, when Rob Cassidy of Rivals reported that Woodson and the Hoosiers had emerged as a "serious player" in Fland's recruitment. Soon after, the five-star guard himself told Joe Tipton of On3 that the final three schools for his college decision were Kentucky, Indiana and Alabama. In the process, he ruled out UNC, UConn, St. John's, Maryland and Michigan.

The Indiana men's basketball team does not yet have any commitments in the class of 2024, but that could change very soon. Woodson and Co. obviously have a very real shot at gaining a commitment from Fland, and the Hoosiers have long been the favorites for five-star wing Liam McNeeley.

Fland is ranked as the No. 10 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by Rivals, and No. 33 overall by 247 Sports.

He was measured at just over 6-foot-2 in shoes this past summer, according to a source with access to 2023 USA Basketball data. As Slater mentioned in his tweet, Fland plays AAU ball for the PSA Cardinals (PSA standing for ProScholarsAthletics).

During 22 games for the PSA Cardinals on the 2023 Nike EYBL circuit, Fland averaged 14.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, according to a source.

Woodson and the Indiana staff all visiting Fland in-person tomorrow is enough to make one feel confident that IU leads in the battle for the five-star's services. Additionally, recruiting insider Trilly Donovan (yes, that is the name that account goes by) predicted Indiana as the betting favorite in the race for Fland.

It's all speculation to this point, but it sure seems like Woodson and his staff are on track to land Fland and "steal" him right out from under Calipari's nose.
