Indiana Has In-Home Visit With Minnesota Transfer Jamison Battle
Indiana head coach Mike Woodson and assistant coach Brian Walsh will conduct an in-home visit with Minnesota transfer Jamison Battle, reported first by Joe Tipton.
Battle, a 6-foot-7, 225-pound forward, began his career at George Washington, where he averaged 17.3 points with a 35.4 3-point percentage during his sophomore season.
After earning All-Atlantic 10 honors, Battle decided to transfer to Minnesota for his junior season, and he was seventh in scoring in the Big Ten at 17.5 points per game. In 2021-22, Battle shot 36.6 percent from 3-point range, along with 6.3 rebounds per game.
His numbers dropped off a bit this season – he averaged 12.4 points, 3.8 rebounds with a 31.1 3-point percentage – but Battle could be one of the top transfer portal options this offseason.
Battle fits the mold of a versatile forward who can score from beyond the arc, drive to the basket and in post-up situations. Across two seasons at Minnesota, notable performances include scoring 21 points with 14 rebounds against Northwestern, a 39-point effort at Maryland and a 31-point game at Illinois.
With veteran forwards Trayce Jackson-Davis and Race Thompson graduating, as well as sophomore center Logan Duncomb entering the transfer portal, Battle would fill a key area of need for Indiana heading into the 2023-24 season and year three under Woodson.
