NEW YORK – Malik Reneau was Indiana's go-to scorer in the first half.

He scored 15 points on 6-for-7 shooting and a perfect 3-for-3 mark at the free throw line in the first 20 minutes of action.

He capped off a strong first half with an old-fashioned 3-point play over UConn's Samson Johnson. It was a strong finish from the 6-foot-9 sophomore forward, spinning his way down the lane and finishing through contact.

Despite Reneau's strong first half, Indiana trails UConn 37-30.

Next up, Indiana plays either No. 19 Texas or Louisville on Monday in the second leg of the Empire Classic at Madison Square Garden. Tipoff for that game will be either 4:30 p.m. ET or 7 p.m. ET, depending on Sunday's results.
