We almost saw some fireworks following Maryland's impressive upset road win over No. 10 Illinois on Sunday. Moments after the final buzzer sounded, Terrapins big man Julian Reese and Fighting Illini assistant coach Tim Anderson exchanged a few words.

In the post-game handshake line, Anderson refused to shake Reese's hand. The Maryland star took exception to that and began yelling at the Illinois assistant.

Several individuals then got between Reese and Anderson, preventing anything serious from happening. It's not clear why Anderson wouldn't shake Reese's hand.

Reese was phenomenal in Maryland's 76-67 upset win at State Farm Center on Sunday. He recorded a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in the victory.

Perhaps that's why Anderson tried to ignore Reese's handshake.

Sunday's win for the Terrapins continued a theme. Maryland has now recorded victories over Illinois in 10 of the last 12 meetings. The Terps have also won each of the last three contests.

It was also a big achievement for Kevin Willard's squad, which had lost each of its last six Big Ten road games. The Terps were just 1-11 in their last 12 conference road contests, dating back to last season.

Reese is averaging nearly a double-double this season. He's posting 13.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. He'll need to keep that effort up if Maryland hopes to turn around its sluggish start to the year.

Hopefully he doesn't have anymore issues in the handshake line.
