BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Commitments are rolling in for Indiana football.

On Tuesday, defensive back Christian Peterson announced his decision to join the Hoosiers. He's the third class of 2024 recruit to do so this week, joining offensive linemen Adedamola Ajani and Evan Lawrence.

At 6-foot and 180 pounds, Peterson is a three-star recruit from Carmel High School, one of the state's premier programs outside of Indianapolis. He's ranked No. 1,352 in the nation, No. 116 among cornerbacks and No. 20 in the state of Indiana.

While he's projected to play cornerback in college, Peterson is a playmaker in a variety of roles for Carmel. He carried the ball eight times for 96 yards and a touchdown as a junior, and he caught 25 passes for 226 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore. Peterson also has experience returning punts and kickoffs.

On defense, he recorded 35 tackles, four pass break-ups, three interceptions, one tackle for loss, and one blocked field goal, according to MaxPreps.com. On his Twitter page, Peterson has a self-reported 4.37 40-yard dash and a 40.1-inch vertical. He's also a member of Carmel's track and field team, a trait Indiana coach Tom Allen has always liked in recruits.
