In this story:

The streak has finally been broken. The Kansas Jayhawks started the year with three straight Big 12 Player of the Week Awards with Lonnie Phelps in Week 1, Cobee Bryant in Week 2 and Jalon Daniels in Week 3. Unfortunately, Kansas was not able to repeat the feat again.

Instead, the Big 12 named the following players as their award winners for Week 4:

Offensive Player of the Week: Adrian Martinez, Kansas State QB
Co-Defensive Player of the Week: Bryson Jackson, Baylor LB
Co-Defensive Player of the Week: Reggie Pearson, Texas Tech DB
Special Teams Player of the Week: Trey Wolff, Texas Tech K
Newcomer of the Week: Kobe Savage, Kansas State S

Regardless on your thoughts about whether Jalon Daniels deserved the honor more this week than Martinez (he did), the Kansas quarterback didn't come away empty-handed.

For the third straight week, Daniels was honored on both the Davey O'Brien Great 8 list and the Manning Award Star of the Week list. He is the only player to be honored on either list three times this season.

Daniels was electric in the Jayhawks' win over the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday, completing 19 of his 23 pass attempts for 324 yards and four touchdowns. He also contributed 83 yards on 11 carries, adding another touchdown to score five touchdowns for the second straight week.

It's just another sign of how great this start to the season has been for not only Daniels, but the Jayhawks as a whole. Expect to see more of these honors for Kansas players as the season goes on.
