Transfer Portal Targets: OT Courtland Ford Reportedly Visiting UK, OL Emmanuel Pregnon Offered
With the spring transfer portal window open from just April 15-30, there's no time for college football programs to meander around.
Kentucky is in need of depth or a key player at a couple positions, but none bigger than the right tackle spot and the offensive line, in general. Some o-line needs have been addressed, including the opposite tackle spot, as Northern Illinois transfer Marques Cox was brought in after the end of the 2022 season.
With the clock ticking, head coach Mark Stoops and the staff already have a couple of leads.
On Sunday, USC's Courtland Ford went portaling. The 6-foot-6, 305-pounder played in 20 games across three years for the Trojans, starting in 12 of those, mostly manning the left tackle spot. Coming out of Cedar Hill, Texas, Ford was a 3-star recruit and the No. 52 OT in the 2020 class.
Since Ford's entry into the portal, Kentucky Sports Radio's Nick Roush has reported that the lineman will be in Lexington for a visit to Kentucky later in the week:
Alongside Ford could be a highly touted guard coming out of Wyoming. Sunday night saw a post come from former Cowboys lineman Emmanuel Pregnon, announcing an offer from Kentucky:
Also from the 2020 class, the IOL has made some serious waves since hitting the portal. 247Sports' writer Chris Hummer said Pregnon was "the best player to have entered the portal during spring ball," outside of Georgia transfer Bear Alexander.
Standing 6-foot-6, 318 pounds, he has announced offers from the likes of Auburn, Colorado, LSU, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State and UCLA among other Power 5 schools. Pro Football Focus named Pregnon a Freshman All-American in 2022.
Landing the Denver native will be a tall task, as the competition is already stiff and will only get stiffer as the April 30 deadline comes closer. Be on the lookout, as moves will begin to come in hot and heavy while the college football landscape continues to shift.
