Five-star Kentucky target to announce college decision on Sunday
VJ Edgecombe, a five star prospect in the class of 2024, will announce his college decision on Sunday at halftime of the Hoophall Classic game which tips off at 7:30 PM ET on ESPN2.
Edgecombe is choosing between Kentucky, Duke, and Baylor, with On3 giving a slight edge to Kentucky while 247Sports is predicting Duke.
Edgecombe is a 6'5 combo guard from Glen Head, NY. Originally from the Bahamas, he is an elite wing scorer who is developing more traditional guard skills.
His athleticism makes him a menace in transition and his rim pressure would make him an excellent fit in John Calipari's offense, although he is still raw from a skills perspective - particularly as a facilitator and ball handler.
Edgecombe would be the sixth recruit to join Calipari's 2024 class and the highest ranked at 247 - coming in ahead of center Jayden Quaintance (9).
He'd join a trio of guards including Billy Richmond (24) Boogie Fland (33) and Travis Perry (70) as the Wildcats look to reload the roster with the expectation they will lose most of their production to the NBA draft after this season.
