Kentucky Wildcats just outside of top 20 in preseason KenPom ratings
The KenPom ratings are back.
KenPom is an advanced analytics website that ranks all 363 D-I men's college basketball teams based on several advanced metrics.
It's one of the premiere tools in the sport when it comes to analysis and NCAA Tournament seeding.
Preseason KP ratings are here, and the Kentucky Wildcats are ranked No. 18 to begin the season. Kentucky finished the 2022-23 season at No. 27.
The rating is the fourth best in the SEC and slightly above the Texas A&M Aggies, who begin the year at No. 24. The Auburn Tigers are ahead at No. 15, the Arkansas Razorbacks slot in at No. 14, the Alabama Crimson Tide at No. 10, and the Tennessee Volunteers at No. 8.
Kentucky's adjusted offensive efficiency is currently projected to be 10th best in the country while their adjusted defensive efficiency is projected to be 35th best.
With fresh faces across the board, Kentucky will look pretty different than they did a season ago - and scoring more points will certainly be on the docket for a team that will be without two of their best frontcourt pieces for a month.
As of right now, KenPom's system predicts Auburn will go 21-10 and 11-7 in SEC play.
College basketball is almost here, folks.
