Kentucky basketball is a 1.5-point underdog against the Florida Gators

Kentucky opens as an underdog against the Florida Gators on the road.

SEC play is here, and the Cats have a challenging opening game as they will face off with the Florida Gators in Gainesville.

Many have been wondering what the line would be in this game, and it came as a big surprise to me. The line in this game has the Cats as a 1.5-point underdog against the Gators on the road.

Breaking down this game for a few days now, it's hard to understand why, aside from home-court advantage, this line favors the Gators.

Aside from rebounding, Kentucky is better in nearly every metric than this Florida team. Now, Florida isn't a bad basketball team, but they are nowhere near as talented as the Cats.

If Kentucky handles the road environment well and continues its hot streak on the offensive side of the floor, the Cats should win this basketball game with ease.

It's frustrating how people continue to underestimate this basketball team, but after a few big wins in conference play, that should hopefully end. If Kentucky does get the win over the Gators, it will be a Quad 1 victory that will help the Cat's NET Rankings.

Kentucky needs to keep the Florida Gators off the free throw line
