Three things we learned from Kentucky's loss to Florida in overtime

What did we learn from Kentucky's overtime loss to Florida?

Every loss is a lesson, and we learned a few things from Kentucky's overtime loss to the Florida Gators.

Florida was clutch in this game, making those late threes, one of which got this game to overtime with less than ten seconds on the clock. The clutch shots didn't fall for Kentucky, leading to the Gators heading back to Gainesville with their fourth straight victory.

One of the three things we learned in this game is Ugonna Onyenso is the best center on this Kentucky team. He was dominant in this game, scoring 13 points, grabbing 16 boards, and blocking eight shots. Onyenso will make it difficult for opposing teams to score around the rim for the rest of the season. We learned Kentucky needs to close out better on shooters and not fall for shot fakes. Walter Clayton Jr., who hit seven threes against Kentucky, said after the game, all of his looks were open because Kentucky bit on shot fakes. The Wildcats can't bite on these, as every shot will be open. Lastly, Kentucky needs to get healthy. The Wildcats have still not played a game at full strength. This led to a ton of minutes for Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham, with DJ Wagner and Justin Edwards out. For this team to peak, they need to get healthy before March.

Coach Calipari had this to say about how Sheppard played in the absence of Wagner, "He did good. You know, there were some breakdowns, like why did you do that kind of breakdowns. And I'm owning it up to they were exhausted. Like the last three, why did you leave that guy? We were guarding the three-point line, and he stopped in the lane, and you left your man. Why did you do that? Well, he's probably exhausted. But we didn't -- you know, who are you going to take out and who are you going to put in? Robert even went back in with cramps."

Kentucky will look to rebound from the loss with a win over the Tennessee Volunteers in Rupp Arena on Saturday.
