Top 2024 5-Star Tre Johnson Includes Kentucky in Top Six

The Wildcats are firmly in the mix for the No. 1 player in the 2024 class.

Kentucky basketball has made the top six for the No. 1 player in the 2024 class.

Tre Johnson, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound shooting guard out of Lake Highlands High School in Dallas, is considering the Wildcats along with the following schools:

  • Baylor
  • Texas
  • Arkansas
  • Alabama
  • Kansas

Kentucky offered last June and hosted an official visit to Lexington back in January. The Wildcats got in the recruitment later on, but have seemingly made up ground since. Baylor and Texas were thought to be the favorites, but a Tweet from insider Andrew Slater suggests that UK is high on the list of six:

Johnson is the consensus No. 1 overall player in the class by all four major recruiting services. Lately, he's been putting up solid numbers on the Nike EYBL Circuit for Houston Hoops 17u:

He's also taken official visits to Baylor, Texas, and most recently Kansas. As has become the normal in Lexington, head coach John Calipari is in the thick of a recruiting battle for a top talent in the now-upcoming class.
