Houston Transfer OL Lance Robinson Commits to Louisville

After stops at Middle Tennessee and Houston, the right tackle is continuing his time in college with the Cardinals.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Yet another transfer is opting to continue their collegiate career with the Louisville football program.

Offensive lineman Lance Robinson, who spent the 2022 season at Houston, announced Wednesday that he has committed to the Cardinals. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pound offensive tackle was a key component of an offensive line that helped the Cougars average 455. 8 yards and 36.1 points per game. Playing in all 13 games with 11 starts, he allowed only four sacks and one quarterback hit over 483 pass block snaps played. All 730 of his snaps last season came exclusively at right tackle, and he was tabbed as a Third-Team All-American Athletic Conference selection by Pro Football Focus.

The Camilla, Ga. native spent his first two years in college with Middle Tennessee. He saw just three games of action during his true freshman campaign, then took a massive step forward in 2021. He was the Blue Raiders' highest-graded offensive lineman that season by Pro Football Focus, not allowing a single sack in 470 pass block snaps. He played 846 snaps overall that season, with 709 of them coming at right tackle.

His addition is huge shot in the arm to depth on the offensive line, particularly at right tackle. Louisville's starter at that position last season in Renato Brown is coming back, with the Cardinals also adding Duquesne transfer right tackle Vincent Lumia just before the end of spring ball.

Robinson is the fifth transfer to commit to Louisville following their spring game last Friday, helping make up for the six Cardinals that entered the portal on Tuesday. Former Rutgers offensive tackle Willie Tyler, former Oregon linebacker Keith Brown, and former North Carolina teammates safety Cam'Ron Kelly and cornerback Storm Duck also committed.

During that span of time, the Cardinals also secured verbal pledges from a trio of 2024 prospects: offensive tackles Ransom McDermott and Jimmy Williams, as well as wide receiver Shaun Boykins Jr.

Louisville has been incredibly active in the transfer portal since Jeff Brohm was hired as their head coach in December. While the Cardinals have lost 20 via the portal since the end of the regular season, Robinson is now the 18th to transfer in over the offseason.

The Cardinals finished their 2022 season with an overall mark of 8-5 (4-4 in ACC), including a 24-7 win in the Fenway Bowl over Cincinnati. They'll kick off their 2023 season against Georgia Tech in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Classic at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. on Friday, Sept. 1.
