2023 NFL Draft: Chicago Bears Select Tyrique Stevenson
The Chicago Bears just made Tyrique Stevenson the first Miami Hurricane selected in the 2023 NFL Draft.
He went 56th overall in the second round. The Bears found themselves an intriguing player.
EDIT: Here are some of the highlights the Chicago Bears Twitter handle tweeted out:
With elite size and athleticism, Stevenson fits the mold of a cornerback that can play multiple roles at the professional level. Such as, being a zone defender that can drive on the receiver after the catch and make a one-on-one tackle in space.
As a reminder, here were his statistics the past two seasons for The U.
2021
: 29 solo and 14 assited tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one-half a sack, a quarterback hurry, one interception, and four pass breakups.
2022
: 18 solo and 7 assisted tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions and 7 pass breakups.
He’s also shown with his size (he was closer to 210 at Miami but weighed in at 198 during the NFL combine) that he can play a very physical brand of football at or near the line of scrimmage.

Whether it would be a screen pass, a quick slant, or perhaps a flat pass to a running back, that’s where Stevenson has excelled to this point in his football career.
It will be interesting to see how the Bears coaching staff uses him at the NFL level. Play him aggressively; press and bail?
During the Senior Bowl week set of practices, Stevenson locked up several talented wide receivers in man coverage. He might find his niche at the NFL level with a combination of different types of coverage responsibilities.
Congratulations to Stevenson and may he have a long and fruitful NFL career.
