The Miami Hurricanes are bringing in some top recruits this Saturday. They’ve also been trying to flip some recruits – like yesterday’s commitment of Cole McConathy – and get them to campus but not all of those hopes shall be realized.
Mario Cristobal and the Canes are certainly trying to get linebacker/edge Adarius Hayes to go away from his childhood favorite, the Florida Gators.
Hayes pledged to Billy Napier and Florida back on Jan. 28, 2023. He’s also been down to see the Hurricanes despite his commitments to the Gators. With him tentatively set to visit the Canes again this weekend it became apparent that a trip over to see Hayes would be a good idea.
After just stopping by Largo (Fla.) High School to see Hayes and his head coach Marcus Paschal, Miami’s efforts are going to come up a little short.
“I’m a swamp baby,” Hayes said after practice in reference to being locked in with the Gators. “I’m 100% a swamp baby.”
Speaking with coach Paschal, he had already told me Hayes was going to stick with Florida. The reason?
Hayes is comfortable with his Florida decision and he just wants to graduate from Largo High School. Then, he will enroll at UF this January.
Coach Paschal and I agreed the Gators are getting a great player on the field and a great young man off of it. For the record, the 6-foot-5 and 225-pound prospect is slated to play middle linebacker for the Gators. He's Rivals' #47 prospect overall, and the #11 within the state of Florida.
