Who's That Wildcat: K/P Jacob Tabibian
K/P Jacob Tabibian
Height: 5'9" Weight: 185 lbs
Hometown: Lafayette, CA
High school: Campolindo
Evaluation:
Tabibian joins the Wildcats as a dual-position kicker and punter with a strong leg and the ability to hit an accurate ball. During his high school varsity career, he scored 73 total points, making 58 of 62 extra point attempts and five of nine field goals. He also recorded a career-long 38-yard field goal his senior year and has demonstrated 50+ yard range in practice.
Tabibian has seen similar success punting. His junior year, he logged 25 punts for 822 total yards with a long of 59 yards.
Playing time projection:
Though Northwestern’s official roster lists Tabibian as both a kicker and a punter, he will likely focus on the former if the training videos he posts to Twitter are any indication. But the Cats have options at kicker: longtime starter Charlie Kuhbander returns as a graduate student for his final season of eligibility, followed by redshirt sophomore and Michigan State transfer Jack Olsen, as well as junior Trey Finison, the only other K/P on the roster.
The team’s punting depth chart looks similar, with starter Derek Adams also returning as a graduate student for his final season of eligibility, followed by junior Jake Genyk and sophomore Hunter Renner.
Given the veteran players at both positions, Tabibian is unlikely to see playing time this year, but he could have an opportunity to contribute in future seasons.
