Notre Dame coaches are on the road this week, visiting the schools of several big-time 2025 and 2026 recruits. As a part of those travels, we have seen several new offers extended. That includes Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth defensive lineman Ethan Utley, who Al Washington added to the 2025 defensive line board on Wednesday.

Utley is well liked from a ranking perspective, currently sitting as a consensus four-star recruit. He ranks highest on the On3 ranking, coming in as the No. 44 overall player and No. 7 defensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class. They also have him rated as the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee.

The 6-4, 275-pound defensive lineman has been pursued by a lot of big time programs already. Some of his top offers so far include Notre Dame, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Michigan, Florida, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Oregon, Penn State, Auburn, NC State, Kentucky, Ole Miss, South Carolina, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Mississippi State, Colorado, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Missouri, West Virginia, Purdue, Cincinnati, Illinois, Duke, Cal, Maryland, Syracuse, Indiana, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt among others.

Notre Dame is off to a tremendous start on the defensive line in the 2025 class. The class currently holds commitments from defensive ends CJ May and Christopher Burgess, defensive tackle Davion Dixon, versatile defensive lineman Joseph Reiff and hybrid pass rusher Dominik Hulak. The Irish staff has added a lot of length and twitch to that group but don’t have a ton of size.

It will be interesting to see how Utley is a part of their plans moving forward.
