Notre Dame Recruiting Roundup - February 5th

Here is the latest news from this past week from Notre Dame football recruiting

It was yet another busy week for the Notre Dame football program. As if recruiting wasn’t busy enough, coaching staff shuffling has now become a very important topic.

Let’s recap the hectic week of action. There is a lot to talk about and by all indications, things won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Here’s some things that you may have missed.

LATEST RECRUITING NEWS

With the dead period back up, the recruiting trail was a little less hectic than it was in previous weeks. Still, there was plenty of news to keep everyone busy.

On the recruiting side of things, Notre Dame did land a tremendous addition to their 2024 class in Round Rock (Texas) High School cornerback Leonard Moore. The 6-2, 175-pound cover man is an incredibly impressive athlete who also comes from a fantastic area of football.

Notre Dame has made grabbing talent from the Lone Star State a priority moving forward and Moore continues that pipeline they are establishing. As it turns out, the Moore family also has a close bond with 2023 wide receiver signee Braylon James and his family.

There were also seven new offers extended for the 2024 class. It is an assortment of very talented players that are discussed at the end.

The other big news, which could have some recruiting implications, is that offensive coordinator Tommy Rees is officially leaving to take the same position with Alabama. The Irish staff now have their eyes turned to replacements who could help to take them over the top.

Outside of that, the 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl was the other main area of topic. Former Notre Dame defensive end Isaiah Foskey and offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson represented the program in Mobile. Both players had great months but were also inconsistent.

RECRUITING ARTICLES THIS WEEK

I had the chance to catch up with several of the talented 2024 recruits who had recently been offered by Notre Dame. Some of them are in much different stages of their recruitment, but all are very interesting in their unique ways.

Last week, the staff extended an offer to Las Vegas (Nev.) Arbor view wide receiver David Washington. I sat down with the talented pass catcher last weekend to discuss his early opinion on Notre Dame, a little insight into his recruitment and the next steps.

There was also another offer extended to get another talented pass catcher in West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade star Kwazi Gilmer. While he doesn’t have an incredibly impressive offer list yet, Gilmer brings an interesting blend of skills to the table.

In the 2024 class, the staff has also keyed in a few outstanding talents in the state of Pennsylvania. I dove into the key targets that you need to know, including offensive line commit Peter Jones.

Several of those key Pennsylvania targets are on the offensive line. That could help to solidify another outstanding group for Harry Hiestand, who is recruiting some studs up front in 2024.

A part of that talented group of targets is Logan (Iowa) Magnolia offensive tackle Grant Brix. He was recently offered by the program and brings a very intriguing athletic profile. Some of the best schools in the Midwest and Southeast are already after him.

The defensive end board is a little more concerning for the 2024 class. There are certainly some very talented football players on it but there is a lot of work to be done. It’s a huge cycle for that position in particular.
