Notre Dame remains red hot on the recruiting trail and this time the Irish have landed Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick offensive tackle Matty Augustine. The 6-7, 290-pound tackle has been a top target for the Irish for some time.

Notre Dame beat out finalists Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin to land the talented blocker.

Augustine was a relative unknown this past summer when he arrived at Notre Dame for an on campus lineman camp. He didn't leave the camp as an unknown, as the the Irish coaches offered him at the camp. That offer was due to how well Augustine performed in front of the Notre Dame staff, and he became a top target by the staff that weekend.

The Brunswick standout backed up his strong camp performance with an outstanding junior season, and the offers kept rolling in from national powers.

Despite being a raw player that is still relatively new to football, Augustine has earned an impressive offer list that includes Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Miami (Fla.), Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida, Nebraska, Missouri and UCLA among many others.

Throughout that explosion in profile, Augustine and Notre Dame remained in a strong place. Augustine went out and visited a number of top schools, but the Irish remained his top school. The Brunswick standout made his decision this month and he's finally announced his intention to join the class. Augustine now joins what has become a strong offensive line class that includes Owen Strebig and another Connecticut standout, Will Black.

Augustine also earned offers from North Carolina, Wisconsin, Stanford, Kentucky, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Virginia, Duke, Maryland, Indiana, Syracuse, Rutgers and Vanderbilt.

Augustine joins a 2025 recruiting class that also includes elite quarterback Deuce Knight, running backs Daniel Anderson and Justin Thurman, wide receiver Shaun Terry, tight end James Flanigan, defensive tackle Davion Dixon, defensive end Christopher Burgess Jr., defensive end Joseph Reiff, hybrid defender Dominik Hulak, linebacker Josiah Kia, cornerback Cree Thomas, and safeties Ivan Taylor and Ethan Long

Long and Augustine are teammates at Brunswick School.

Notre Dame currently has the No. 1 ranked recruiting class according to both Rivals and 247Sports.
