Ohio State F Brice Sensabaugh Projected As 1st Round Pick in NBA Draft
When discussing first-round talent, it is usually the Ohio State Buckeyes' football team in the conversation.
However, the basketball team can't be excluded from the conversation, as forward Brice Sensabaugh looks to be the second-consecutive one-and-done out of Columbus. If he is drafted in the first round, like Sports Illustrated's Matt Babcock projects, he will also be the second-straight Buckeye taken in the opening round, joining guard Malaki Branham who was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs with the 20th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Sports Illustrated has Sensabaugh being selected with the No. 20 pick to the Houston Rockets.
"While possessing an atypical body type for a sharp-shooting wing, Brice Sensabaugh's effectiveness during his freshman season at Ohio State was undeniable," Babcock wrote. "While his thick 235-pound build does present some concerns, it also provides Sensabaugh with functional strength. Using his power and strength, Sensabaugh routinely creates separation from his defender to knock down impressive turnaround and fadeaway shots in the midrange and can put the ball on the floor to find his spots. Sensabaugh projects a solid first-round pick in the upcoming NBA Draft."
Sensabaugh put his scoring abilities on display from game one on last season, going on an improbable run in which he notched double digit points through the first three months of the season.
He scored the fourth-most points of any true freshman in Ohio State history and was the first since D'Angelo Russell to lead the Buckeyes in scoring.
The Orlando, FL. native dropped a career-high 27 points on 10-for-12 from the floor and 4-of-5 from 3.
There's no doubt about Sensabaugh's volume scoring, but the wild card with his ability to make a smooth transition to the NBA comes is how he will play on the defensive end.
