WATCH: Buckeyes Ex Sam Thompson Featured on Big Ten Network's 'Slam Saturday'
Former Ohio State Buckeyes basketball player Sam Thompson was featured in the latest edition of Big Ten Network's "Slam Saturday" series.
A compilation of Thompson's best moments with the Buckeyes, soaring through the air inside the Schottenstein Center, was posted to the television network's Twitter account.
Thompson, referred to as "Slam Thompson" in a quote tweet by the Ohio State men's basketball account, played for the Scarlet and Gray between 2011 and 2015.
During his senior year, the Chicago native was the second-highest scorer on the team with 10.2 points per game. Thompson finished his final campaign in Columbus with 1,001 career points.
Thompson also started each of the 35 contests in the 2014-15 season, while playing the second-most minutes on the team with 35.2 minutes per game.
The Big Ten media honored Thompson with an "honorable mention" spot on their 2015 All-Big Ten list.
Saturday was not the first time Thompson's aerial acrobatics have been worthy or recognition. Thompson was named "Top Dunker" by Sporting News, and was a nominee for Yahoo! Sports' "Dunk of the Year" in 2014.
Following his time with the Buckeyes, Thompson signed a NBA contract with the Charlotte Hornets. Thompson was later waived by the Hornets in October 2015.
Since then, Thompson has spent time with a variety of teams in the NBA's G League, including the Grand Rapids Gold, Delaware Blue Coats and Greensboro Swarm. Thompson currently plays for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, G League affiliate of the NBA's Miami Heat.
