Latest NFL Draft Prediction Has Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud Falling Out of Top 10
Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud could hear his name called outside of the first ten picks of the 2023 NFL Draft, according to a recent prediction from NFL analyst Will Brinson.
Brinson says two quarterbacks will end up going within the opening ten selections, but the Buckeyes signal-caller will not be one of them.
Stroud had previously been a favorite to go first overall in the draft but has watched his stock drop due to a stream of recent controversies. Alabama's Bryce Young has replaced Stroud at the top spot in the latest projections.
Aside from being a less-than-desirable start to his professional career, a drop out of the top ten would cut down the number of teams potentially interested in Stroud. Most of the franchises with the greatest need for a quarterback have picks within that range and only a handful at No. 11 and beyond.
Stroud's best landing spot would be at No. 11 with the Tennessee Titans, should Brinson's prediction come true.
There is a chance that the Titans could trade up for Stroud or one of the other top prospects at his position. However, that depends on how highly they deem the need for a new arm behind center (if they feel that need at all).
Stroud's future is more in doubt than it has ever been leading up to the draft, but a spot in the first round is still a high honor, wherever it is.
The first round of the 2023 NFL Draft airs Thursday evening, beginning at 8 p.m. ET, on ESPN and the ESPN app.
