Ohio State Commit Jeremiah Smith Ranked in Top 25 for Next 3 Recruiting Classes

Ohio State Buckeyes receiver commit Jeremiah Smith has 89 receptions for 1,740 yards and 27 touchdowns in the last two high school seasons, according to 247Sports.
In this story:

Ohio State's receiver room is one of the most dominant and consistent of any  position group in the entire country.

The Buckeyes boast two of the top receivers in the 2023 season and the pipeline of pass-catching talent doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Three of Ohio State's four incoming freshmen receivers ranked in the top 10 at the position in the 2023 recruiting class, as it also holds commitments of two of the top-five wideouts in the 2024 cycle.

One of those in 2024 is top receiver and No. 2 overall prospect Jeremiah Smith from Opa Locka, Fla.

But Smith isn't just one of the best recruits in the 2024 cycle. He's the No. 21 prospect in each of the next three recruiting classes, according to ESPN.

"Smith is tall (6-3) and long with an impressive catch radius and underrated downfield speed," ESPN wrote. "For a player of his size, he can still be elusive and make defenders miss in the open field. Moreover, he reachers top speed quickly and understands how to use his size to his advantage to break tackles and position himself to win the 50-50 ball. The Buckeyes continue to reload at the receiver position with premium talent."

The Chaminade-Madonna Prep product put that combination of physical gifts and finesse on display in his junior season, catching 58 passes for 1,073 yards and 20 touchdowns.

247Sports gave Smith a player comparison to Julio Jones and said he is "one of the most talented wide receiver prospects to come out of South Florida in the modern recruiting era."

"The type of wideout that can beat a defense over the top one play and then box defenders out in the corner of the end zone the next," 247 wrote. "Has a knack for making high-level grabs look extremely routine, like plucking the football out of the air with one hand while in traffic."
