Ohio State Buckeyes Make Statement vs. Michigan State Spartans in Blowout Win
After their questionable showing vs. the Rutgers Scarlet Knights last week, the Ohio State Buckeyes were facing some serious questions in regards to maintaining their No. 1 College Football Playoff Ranking.
On Saturday, however, they made a statement to those doubters, blowing out the Michigan State Spartans 38-3 after a monstrous first half from Marvin Harrison Jr. and the offense.
Harrison Jr. got started quickly with his huge night as well, scoring three touchdowns on the Buckeyes' first four drives of the game, including the first rushing touchdown of his career.
The Buckeyes star also became the first Ohio State wide receiver to have multiple, 1,000-yard seasons in a career, and tied David Boston for the most 100-yard games in a career, finishing the game with seven catches for 149 yards and three total touchdowns.
Elsewhere, quarterback Kyle McCord also had arguably the best game of his young career, completing 24 of 31 passes for a career-high 335 yards, to go along with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
TreVeyon Henderson also had a nice supplementary day on the ground, 13 times for 63 yards and a second-quarter touchdown.
As a team, the Buckeyes racked up an explosive 530 yards of total offense, including 350 total yards through the air.
Defensively, the Buckeyes returned the favor as well, holding the Spartans to a mere 182 total yards of offense, including just 88 yards through the air.
Following the win, the Buckeyes will now turn their sites to a road date with the Minnesota Golden Gophers next Saturday.
After that, it's on to the Michigan Wolverines.
