Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. "Excited" for Freshman Carnell Tate
Plenty of current and former Ohio State Buckeyes have placed their stamp of approval on freshman receiver Carnell Tate.
During a session with the media Tuesday, junior receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. joined that list.
"He's amazing," Harrison said. "Handles his business. He's always in the right spot, catches the ball, runs great routes."
Tate committed to the Buckeyes in June 2022 from the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The native Chicagoan made a good impression during camp, as coach Ryan Day said during a press conference on Monday.
As if an endorsement from one of Ohio State's best receivers wasn't praise enough, Harrison then made a bold statement about Tate's potential future with the Buckeyes.
"I'm excited to really see, you know, what his career looks like," Harrison said. "I think he could be one of the best receivers to ever come from Ohio State."
Tate, a five-star recruit, is one of the latest to be brought onto the Buckeyes over the last few years by coach Brian Hartline.
Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 192 pounds, Tate is one of the lightest receivers on Ohio State's Fall Camp roster. Only three other receivers weigh less than Tate, two of whom are fellow freshmen.
This means Tate will almost certainly undergo some weight training during his time with the Buckeyes in order to get some extra mass on his frame. However, Tate's ability to use his length to make high-point catches has already been shown during camp.
It is only a matter of time before Tate becomes a household name amongst Buckeyes fans.
At least, that's what Harrison seems to believe.
