Ohio State Buckeyes QB Kyle McCord Endorses Marvin Harrison Jr.'s Heisman Trophy Campaign

Ohio State Buckeyes QB Kyle McCord thinks Marvin Harrison Jr. deserves to be in New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony.

The Ohio State Buckeyes had arguably their most dominant win of the season on Saturday night, blowing past the Michigan State Spartans 38-3 in Columbus.

That win was in large part due to the explosive play from star wideout Marvin Harrison Jr., who finished the game with seven catches for 149 yards and three total touchdowns.

And now, his quarterback Kyle McCord - who had a tremendous night of his own - is endorsing Harrison Jr. for the Heisman Trophy once again.

“He does so much for the offense," McCord said. "I think I said this about a month ago, if it’s truly the award that goes to the best player, he has to be right there in contention."

McCord is right on the money as well, with Harrison Jr. playing as well as anyone in the country, and doing it on the biggest stage.

Harrison Jr. got started quickly with his huge night Saturday, scoring three touchdowns on the Buckeyes' first four drives of the game, including the first rushing touchdown of his career.

The Buckeyes star also became the first Ohio State wide receiver to have multiple, 1,000-yard seasons in a career, and tied David Boston for the most 100-yard games in a career, finishing the game with seven catches for 149 yards and three total touchdowns.

And according to McCord, his impact on the Buckeyes offense is immeasurable.

“I can’t really quantify how impactful he is to this offense," McCord said. 'I think there are one-on-one situations he obviously wins. I think there are situations where he takes two defenders with him. If they want to double him, somebody else is open. I think he does a good job blocking, too."

As it stands right now, Harrison Jr. is tied for the third-best Heisman odds in the country with +800, alongside Florida State QB Jordan Travis an Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy.

Should Harrison Jr. win the award, he will become the first Buckeye to do so since QB Troy Smith in 2006.
