The latest prediction from CBS Sports has Ohio State finishing behind TTUN in the 2023 Big Ten Conference standings. It would mark the third year in a row that the Buckeyes would watch their archrivals hoist the Big Ten Championship trophy if the prediction comes true.

The preseason media poll was released on Tuesday, and Ohio State received eight first-place votes out of a possible 37. For comparison, the conference favorite Wolverines received 27 first-place votes.

Penn State received the final two first-place votes from the Big Ten East division. Michigan also received 27 votes as the favorite to defend their Big Ten Conference title, regardless of whoever wins the West division.

The Big Ten East has been represented by either the Buckeyes or the Wolverines for the past six seasons. The Scarlet and Gray won four consecutive conference titles between 2017 and 2020, but haven't earned one since.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has faced plenty of criticism for his losing record against Michigan since he took over the program in 2018. Another loss would make this the first time the Buckeyes have lost three in a row to the Wolverines since the trio of games between 1995 and 1997, making Day's seat even hotter.

Overall, the Wolverines own the head-to-head series 60-51-6 as Day tries to narrow that gap. TTUN also holds the edge in all-time conference championships 44-39, and overall national championships 11-8.

Ohio State owns more Heisman Trophy winners 7-3 and more NFL draft picks 485-401. But none of that matters if Michigan keeps adding head-to-head wins to its total over the Buckeyes.
