The Ohio State Buckeyes had a fantastic showing during early signing day on Wednesday.

Over the course of the day, 20 high-value recruits signed their national letters of intent to play for the Buckeyes beginning next season.

Among this list of signees were the names of four five-star recruits: cornerback Aaron Scott Jr., edge Eddrick Houston and receivers Jeremiah Smith (the nation's top-ranked recruit regardless of position) and Mylan Graham. The impressive turnout sparked a comment from 247Sports recruiting analyst Brad Crawford on the social media platform, X.

"Ohio State is a huge winner today," Crawford said. "Hanging on No. 1 overall talent Jeremiah Smith and fellow five-star (defensive lineman) Eddrick Houston. Tales of the Buckeyes lacking NIL strength clearly a myth.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Buckeyes coach Ryan Day was asked about some of the talent his team had brought in already that day. Day had high praise for each of the recruits, including Houston.

“I’m really, really excited about Eddrick,” Day said. “Larry worked hard on this one. He comes from an unbelievable program in Buford (Georgia). We feel he’s an impact player Day 1. It was a long process to get to signing day. But we identified him early as someone who was a difference-maker. That was a big one for us.”

Smith had not yet made his announcement when Day stepped up to the podium. When news of Smith's choosing Ohio State over Miami made its way up the aisle of the room to Day, the Buckeyes helmsman could not hide his excitement.

Day summed up his evening plans following a successful day of signings with a simple, but memorable quote.

“I mean, the first beer is going to taste good,” Day said.
