Ohio State Fans Rally Behind Animated, Energetic Ryan Day
Ohio State coach Ryan Day was by far the most animated he has ever been following a 17-14 victory against No. 9 Notre Dame.
The Buckeyes helmsman called out those whom had been criticizing the Buckeyes on social media in the days leading up to the game, including former Fighting Irish head coach Lou Holtz, echoing the message, 'Ohio Against the World.'
The popular motto is used by players as message to opponents about their toughness during games, but also by fans as a rallying cry. And rally Ohio State fans did.
Supporters of the Buckeyes had spent the first three weeks of the season divided over the Scarlet and Gray's performance in the first few games, as well as the full potential of which the team was capable.
Everyone seemed to have a different reasoning for their doubts, from a shaky start for quarterback Kyle McCord to a defense that kept allowing big plays against the smaller-caliber opponents.
That all changed Saturday night when Ohio State walked off Notre Dame with a last-second touchdown from running back Chip Trayanum, defeating the Fighting Irish 17-14 on their home turf.
Day did not even wait until he got to the postgame media room to call out those who doubted the Buckeyes, instead starting right after the final whistle during his postgame field interview on NBC.
The reaction on social media has been overwhelmingly positive in response to Day's enthusiasm and defense of his team from the critiques they received ahead of their game with the Irish. Some have even called for Day to keep up this level of energy for the rest of the season, saying it might translate to a more motivated team on the field.
Ohio State has a bye week beginning on Monday, but is right back at it the following week for a home game against the Maryland Terrapins.
