WATCH: Ohio State Lights Up Scoreboard In Spring Game After Slow First Half
The Ohio State Buckeyes may have lost a good deal of offensive talent to the NFL this offseason.
But in Saturday's Scarlet and Gray spring game in Columbus, they showed that, when clicking, they still have enough weapons to compete with anyone.
The offense did take some time to get going, however, with the first score from the offense not coming until late in the second quarter.
And while it was a far-from-perfect outing offensively, there were plenty of bright spots for the Buckeyes, including a beautiful grab from Jayden Ballard in the second quarter.
As far the quarterback play was concerned, the battle for the starting job still seems wide open.
And while Kyle McCord struggled at times, completing 18 of 34 passes for 184 yards and just one touchdown, he did show flashes, hitting Carnell Tate on an impressive deep ball in the fourth quarter.
Not to be outdone, Tristan Gebbia also put his stamp on the game, hitting 14 of 24 passes for 127 yards and a late 57-yard touchdown to true freshman and former four-star, Noah Rogers.
But perhaps the biggest play of the game came from the running back spot, where Chip Trayanum exploded for a 65-yard score.
Trayanum's touchdown was the opening score of the game, and opened the flood gates for the offense heading into the second half.
With the Scarlet and Gray game now in the books, the Buckeyes will head into the offseason looking for improve on what they saw during the spring.
And hopefully, get a handle on the quarterback position before the season opener this fall, where a healthy Devin Brown will return to the lineup to compete for the job.
