WATCH: Quick Flurry Surges Ohio State Buckeyes Ahead vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers
The Ohio State Buckeyes have broken the game wide open vs. the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Entering halftime with a disappointing 13-0 lead after the first two quarters, Ohio State needed to come out and make a statement in the second half.
And just a handful of plays into the second half, they did exactly that, with TreVeyon Henderson rushing 75 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the third quarter. The touchdown was the longest of the season for Henderson, pushing him to 146 yards on 15 carries.
However, the Buckeyes weren't done there. On the very next offensive play for the Golden Gophers, JT Tuimoloau made the first big defensive play of the day, recovering a fumble off of a Jack Sawyer sack.
Just three plays later, the Buckeyes were back in the end zone again, with quarterback Kyle McCord hitting Marvin Harrison Jr. for his 13th touchdown of the season, and giving the Scarlet and Gray a 27-0 lead just four minutes into the half.
The floodgates did not stop there, however.
Just a few plays later, the Buckeyes' defense made another play, with cornerback Jordan Hancock intercepting the Gophers and taking the ball deep into Minnesota territory.
The Buckeyes then turned that interception into a quick field goal, ending the flurry and making the score 30-0.
The 17-point flurry not only outscored the entire Buckeyes output from the first half in less than five minutes but put Ohio State clear of the game's 27.5-point spread.
