Ohio State Forward Brice Sensabaugh Falls in Latest NBA Mock Draft
The latest CBS Sports mock draft has former Ohio State Buckeyes forward Brice Sensabaugh falling four spots in the 2023 NBA Draft on Thursday.
Sensabaugh is now projected to go to the Sacramento Kings with the No. 24 overall pick, a four-spot drop from his former position in the draft order. The Buckeyes freshman was previously thought to hear his name called as the 20th selection, packing his bags and shipping out to join the Houston Rockets.
"Sensabaugh, like Hendricks, was a sub-80 prospect in the Class of 2022 who was surprisingly great in his one year at Ohio State," said Gary Parrish, the mock draft's creator. "If he improves as a perimeter defender, the wing with a reliable 3-point shot could get on the floor early and help Sacramento become real contenders in the West.
A native of Orlando, Florida, Sensabaugh averaged 16.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, both of which were team highs. Sensabaugh also shot just under 50% from the field in his single season with the Buckeyes.
The 6-foot-6, 235-pound Sensabaugh played an important role for Ohio State in 2022, starting in 21 of the 33 games in which he played for an average of 24.5 minutes per outing.
Shooting 83% from the charity stripe, Sensabaugh's free-throw percentage ranked third among his teammates behind senior guards Sean McNeil and Tanner Holden.
It is unclear what the Kings would do with Sensabaugh as they have plenty of options at both shooting guard and small forward, his two positions.
A transition to point guard for the purpose of backing up De'Aaron Fox could be in the cards for Sensabaugh but is less likely than keeping him around for depth at the previous pair of roles.
The 2023 NBA Draft airs live from the Barclays Center in New York City this Thursday at 8 p.m. on ABC and ESPN.
