Ohio State RB TreVeyon Henderson Poised For Bounce-Back Season, Bleacher Report Says
It's safe to say 2022 is not what TreVeyon Henderson had in mind.
The Ohio State Buckeyes running back was coming off a 2021 season in which he set the true freshman touchdown program record with 19 and ran for over 1,200 yards.
"Next stop: All-American honors. Right?" Bleacher Report said. "Well, his train to superstardom hit a delay."
Injuries derailed Henderson's sophomore season and limited him to just 571 yards and six touchdowns on the ground in eight games.
Bleacher Report, though, projects Henderson will be one of seven players poised for a bounce-back season, saying the Hopewell, VA. native "should reclaim his spot as the Buckeyes' featured back thanks to his versatility."
Henderson said onΒ April 5 that a broken sesamoid bone in his foot he sustained last season limited his ability to push off and cut. He said every time he would play, it would reset the injury.
Though the former 247Sports five-star recruit didn't play in the Buckeyes' Spring Game, he tweeted Sunday that he is "officially cleared."
"So many lessons was learned but I thank the lord for getting me through this and keeping me lifted," Henderson tweeted. "Thank you Lord Always."
When fully healthy, Henderson is a shifty runner that can break both inside and off-tackle runs to the second level, rushing for 270 yards β the fifth-most in Ohio State program history β against Tulsa on Sept. 18, 2021. His longest carry in 2021 was a 68-yard tote against Penn State on Oct. 30, 2021.
He will likely still split carries with running back Miyan Williams, but Henderson should be Ohio State's No. 1 running back if he can stay healthy.
