Ohio State Buckeyes forward Eugene Brown III became the second Buckeye in as many days to announce his departure from the program.

A day after forward Justice Sueing announced he was declaring for the NBA Draft, Brown announced on Twitter Thursday that he will enter the transfer portal after three seasons with the Buckeyes. Brown will leave with a degree from Ohio State in sport industry while having two years of eligibility remaining.

"The lessons, experiences, and bonds I have created while here will forever be a chapter in my life journey that has made me who I am today," Brown said in a statement.

Brown was sidelined for the first 11 games of the season with a concussion but was a key defensive piece for the Buckeyes last season playing center at 6'7 when Zed Key was injured and Felix Okpara was in foul trouble.

The Conyers, GA. native averaged 2.2 points and 1.5 rebounds in 10.1 minutes per game, but converted 53.1 percent of his field goal attempts.

The former four-star recruit started 10 games in 2021-22, notching 3.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.

He played 77 games in his three-year Ohio State career.

Brown's departure only makes a young Buckeyes squad younger next season.

Though the returning soon-to-be sophomores — guards Bruce Thornton and Roddy Gayle Jr. and center Felix Okpara — will have more in-game experience than most second-year players, Ohio State's projected roster for next season will have two players — forwards Zed Key and Kalen Etzler — who will have been with the program for at least three years.

The only other players with more college basketball experience than Key and Etzler are guard Tanner Holden and forward Owen Spencer, who combined for 383 of Ohio State's 7,050 minutes last season.
