Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. Better Than His Dad? Reggie Wayne Weighs In
They call him "Marvelous Marv" for a reason, and he's caught the attention of one of the best receivers in NFL history.
Former Indianapolis Colts receiver and current receivers coach Reggie Wayne told The Indianapolis Star that he believes Ohio State Buckeyes wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. is a better prospect at this point in his career than his 2016 Hall of Fame inductee father, Marvin Harrison Sr.
"He's bigger than Marvin," Wayne said. "He's tall. He's faster than Marv."
Wayne would know better than most about Marvin Harrison Sr.'s abilities as he got a first-hand look from 2001-08 when the two were teammates in Indianapolis.
In 2008 β Marvin Harrison Sr.'s final season in the NFL β he was listed at 6-0, 185 pounds, whereas Jr. stands 6-4 and currently weighs 208 pounds.
Marvin Harrison Sr. was taken 19th overall in the 1996 NFL Draft and went on to catch 1,102 passes, totaling 14,580 yards and finding the end zone 128 times in 13 seasons.
Heading into this season, Jr. is one of the top returning players in college football and a projected first-round prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft, coming off a sophomore season in which he amassed 77 receptions for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Sr. said after his son participated in Ohio State's Pro Day, catching passes from projected No. 1 overall draft pick C.J. Stroud, that when it's his time, he'll be ready for the NFL.
"When the day comes, you know, his professional career, whether it's next year or two years, I'm sure he'll be ready and make a good impression for those guys if that ever happens," Marvin Harrison Sr. said.
