Ohio State QB Devin Brown Updates Finger Injury
Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Devin Brown was wearing his black No. 33 jersey Saturday at the spring game, just like normal. The tape that was wrapped around his ring and pinky fingers on his throwing hand wasn't normal, though.
Brown was one of 12 players who did not play in the Buckeyes' Spring Game, missing an opportunity to try and separate himself from Kyle McCord in Ohio State's quarterback battle.
After the game, Brown updated what happened and the timeline for his injury.
"It was just a slight, little thing in practice. Just had a little procedure on it. Nothing crazy," Brown said. "I'll be back in four weeks or so."
Brown said it was difficult having to sit and watch the spring game from the sidelines.
"It's definitely hard knowing I could have been playing out there, but we were working for it all spring," Brown said. "At the end of the day, I was just happy to be able to cheer on my guys and do what I could."
The Gilbert, AZ. native was the No. 43 player and the sixth-ranked quarterback in the class of 2022, according to 247Sports, after throwing for 7,961 yards and 85 touchdowns to 32 interceptions in three high school seasons.
In his freshman season last year, he didn't attempt a pass.
Brown said if he doesn't win the starting quarterback job, he won't consider transferring out of the program.
"That's never crossed my mind. I've always been a guy that's going to stick to my word and stick to where I'm at," Brown said. "I've always said from the beginning, I came here and I wanted to compete. And if that's not how it goes, that's how it goes. But I'm sticking around. I'm still a Buckeye, and I want to do everything I can to help his team.”
