Is Ohio State QB CFB’s Most 'Pressure-Packed' Position?

Klatt says Buckeye Nation is remorseless towards the Buckeyes, particularly the head coach and quarterback positions.

The list of the world’s hardest professions might have a new addition, according to Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt.

On his self-titled podcast and TV show, “The Joel Klatt Show,” Klatt spoke about the plethora of eyes that are always on the Ohio State Buckeyes, particularly when it comes to the quarterback position.

“I know that it’s pressure-packed at other places around the country. I don’t know if there is a more intense position, singularly, in college football than the Ohio State quarterback,” Klatt said.

Klatt said his opinion regarding Ohio State does not change, regardless of the school posed against them.

“You name the program and I don’t think they get the scrutiny the Ohio State quarterback gets,” Klatt said. “And therefore, if you’re in the most prominent position, i.e. the head coach or the quarterback, I think it can be categorized, fairly, as one of it not the most pressure-packed player positions in all of college football.”

There is one main reason for Klatt’s feelings about the pressure put on the Ohio State QB job: the hyper-critical supporters of the Buckeyes.

“That fan base is ruthless, and you know it, Buckeye fans, I know you,” Klatt said. “I’m around you all the time…The Ohio State fanbase is really hard on their team.”

Klatt says he admires Ohio State starting quarterback and now NFL hopeful C.J. Stroud, because of how he handled the immense scrutiny from Buckeye Nation.

“I have a lot of respect for C.J. Stroud,” Klatt said. “A lot of respect.”

Stroud finished each of his three seasons with stat lines that were beyond impressive, but these were often overlooked by supporters of the Scarlet and Gray due to his 0-2 record against Michigan and his inability to win, let alone qualify for, a National Championship.

If what Klatt says is true, quarterbacks Kyle McCord and Devin Brown, both of whom are in contention for the Buckeyes’ starting job, might want to think about taking a break from social media for the potentially 14 games of the coming season.
