Ohio State F Cotie McMahon Invited To USA Basketball Tryout

Ohio State Buckeyes forward Cotie McMahon averaged 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds 2.4 assists in 36 games last season.

For the second year in a row, Cotie McMahon has been selected to compete for Team USA.

The Ohio State Buckeyes forward and 2022-23 Big Ten Freshman of the Year will participate in USA Basketball's U19 team trials beginning Friday after helping the U18 team win its 10th-straight title in the 2022 Women's Americas Championship. In the gold medal game against Canada on June 20, 2022, the Centerville, OH. native led all scorers with 22 points in 25 minutes on 60 percent shooting.

If McMahon makes the final roster, she will help lead Team USA in Group B pool play of the U19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Spain with their first game against Mali on July 15.

McMahon was a workhorse for the Buckeyes last season as one of four players to appear in all 36 of their games, helping patrol their offense through Big Ten regular season and tournament play as well as on their run to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament — their farthest March Madness run since 1993-94.

In Ohio State's seven postseason games last year, McMahon averaged 19.4 points per game on 49 percent from the field.

The only two Buckeyes to have competed for the U19 National Team are Samantha Prahalis in 2009 and Linnae Harper in 2013.
